Rob hails from Bethel, Maine, where he hangs his boots for most of the season. Much of his winter is spent in the Presidential Range working as a ski guide and avalanche educator. His work also takes him to Washington State, Jackson, Wyoming, Iceland, Alaska, and a few places in between.

Rob is a big believer in learning by doing. Even when the day is built around a particular objective, there’s plenty to learn along the way and he’s not under the impression that he’s done learning, either. He enjoys sharing what he knows, asking questions, and watching people find their own footing in the mountains.

“The festival was a big part of how I got started in guiding, so getting to help put it on means a lot. For me, the most important part has always been the community. A good day of skiing is hard to beat, but so is catching up with people you don’t see nearly enough and trading stories at the end of the day. I want this to be a weekend where someone who’s been skiing here for thirty years and someone putting skins on for the first time both feel welcome. We’ll do plenty of skiing and learning, but getting everyone together is the point.”
