OUTDOOR OFFICE (2-day, Fri/Sat)

Looking to change careers or find an audience as hungry for adventure as you? Look no further, doors are open, won’t you come in?

In conjunction with Granite Outdoor Alliance, Outdoor Office was created as a bridge between the epic stoke of outdoor adventure and creative careers. Students who attend Outdoor Office choose between three modes of outdoor storytelling: photography, videography, and writing. They then head out on adventures during the Backcountry Ski Festival to gather background for their stories. The entire course is mentored by professionals working in the field who know the ins and outs of freelancing in the outdoor industry.

Going into its third year, the course has had some major updates to enhance students understandings and provide real-world, hands-on experiences.

What Outdoor Office students can help with this year:

Photography: students will hone their photo taking skills and learn about the editing process with the help of a renowned photographer. Their assignment will provide brands with clean, professional photos that they can use on their social media channels and website.

Videography: students will gather videos throughout their days in the field at the Backcountry Ski Festival and work with a professional videographer to cut together their film. Their assignment will provide brands with entertaining and effective Reels and TikToks for them to use on their social media accounts.

Writing: students will go on backcountry adventures to gather background and interviews for a story. They will enhance their writing skills by providing articles for brands’ blogs, edited and overseen by a published author and writer in the outdoor industry.

Minimum of 6 required for class to be offered.
