Youth Backcountry Camp with Carrabassett Valley Academy 2 DAY (Sat & Sun | Ages 12-16)

For over 20 years, Carrabassett Valley Academy has been a leader in youth backcountry ski programming. We are proud not only to offer the technical skills and knowledge for our students to excel in the backcountry environment but also to foster skills learned through backcountry skiing and riding that are lifelong and transferrable. CVA graduates display a deeper understanding of leadership, effective communication, problem-solving, risk management, and teamwork due to their experience. Learn more here.

In this two-day clinic, tailored towards young skiers ages 12-16, the group will explore the White Mountains and discuss the fundamental skills of backcountry skiing.

Backcountry athletes gain experience, training, and coaching in:

  • Backcountry skiing in a variety of terrain and snow climates

  • Avalanche studies and snow science

  • Wilderness Medicine / Rescue Basics

  • Adventure travel

  • Navigation

  • Backcountry ethics

Course Notes:

  • Course offered on Saturday & Sunday (8-4)

  • An adult may accompany students

  • Depending on sign-up, skill level, and group dynamics, the group may split into two.

Dates: Saturday & Sunday, February 22 & 23, 2025 (8-4 pm)
